[caldeveloper-l] Standing on the shoulders of giants

Colleagues,

I bought a house recently. The structure is fine but the interior hasn't
been updated in the last 20 years. Basically that means stripping it down
to the concrete. It is not the most fun part but necessary to add the good
stuff. I'm very thankful for the original builders to have provided me with
the solid base to work from.

Comparable we have laid the groundwork for scheduling in the past years. A
lot of the groundwork is in place and we paved the road for adding goodies.
I see those popping up a lot. Scheduling and time related opportunities
occur everywhere on the interwebs. Location and time are getting more more
intertwined. Personalisation and IoT are a couple of other more abstract
issues that are interesting for all of us and, even more so, for our end
users. The AI wave will definitely help to facilitate adding value.

At CalConnect XXXIX
<https://www.calconnect.org/events/calconnect-xxxix-june-12-16-2017> next
week in Seattle, organized by Tandem <https://www.tandemcal.com/>, these
and other issues will be discussed. Unfortunately I will not be there
(still working on the house) but I wish all the attendees a great week. On
Wednesday June 14th we organize a public workshop
<https://www.calconnect.org/misc/calconnect-public-workshop-june-14-2017-calconnect-xxxix-seattle>
with
interesting local presence. Don't miss that if you are in neighbourhood.

I hope I will see you all at CalConnect VL
<https://www.calconnect.org/events/calconnect-xl-september-25-29-2017> in
Cologne, Germany in September.

Best regards,

Rutger Geelen
